The #SpringFlingKidLit Contest is Here!

Pastel colored Easter eggs sit in a basket surrounded by flowers.

One of my favorite things about the kidlit writing community is participating in contests. I love interacting with other writers and cheering each other on, and I'm always looking for inspiration for new stories. Contests are a great way to get the ideas flowing! Plus, I love a deadline- it makes me hold myself accountable.

The Spring Fling KidLit Contest is a fun and supportive opportunity to write, revise, and submit. Hosted by Kaitlyn Leann Sanchez and Ciara O'Neal, this contest requires writers to use a spring-themed GIF as inspiration for a 150-word story. There are so many fun topics that fall under the "Spring" umbrella!

This year, I decided to write an Easter story with a twist. I first came up with a silly idea and let it marinate for a while, unsure of whether it was worth pursuing. But when I found a GIF to match while scrolling for other ideas, I decided to give it a try! My CP's helped me polish the story and encouraged me to enter it. My entry is below- I hope you enjoy it!

I can't wait to read everyone's entries!

Ack! This one gave me the shivers. I love the idea of telling the story through "Help Wanted" ads.

It reminds me a bit of Peter Easter Frog, which is my 6 yo's favorite Easter story. Well done!
